Imagine (demo) |
Madonna will be performing at halftime of this year's Super Bowl, so it is fitting we try and find some rare nugget from her. During the Re-Invention Tour in 204, she was doing a cover of John Lennon's 'Imagine" on acoustic guitar. I can't say it was a highlight...in fact in New York, where I caught her show, it was seen as blasphemy. During the televised benefit for Tsunami Relief she performed it a little closer to this demo version and it went over a little better. You decide. |

She's The Woman |
Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you are aware that Van Halen with David Lee Roth released a new single last week entitled 'Tattoo". Their first new record with Diamond Dave in eons will be out in February and is rumored to include some songs that were on their 1976 demo to Warner Brothers, but never released. As someone who has heard those demos, I am intrigued, as many of the songs were very good. One of those is "She's The Woman". |

Watching The Wheels (acoustic) |
31 years ago today the world lost John Lennon in the most horrific way. Many still remember where they were when they heard the news. For me, it was from Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football, where John had been an occasional guest in the booth. It still seems a bit surreal and sad, but mostly the passage of time too quick. Here is an acoustic version of one of the singles on the Double Fantasy album that John was promoting at the time of his death. |
